John Crosby, MD
Interventional Pain Management Physician
From the Doctor
The yearning to become a physician has been a part of my life since elementary school. Science and biology fascinated me. But there was a larger, more humanistic draw for me.
As I began to mature and experience more of life, I saw how drastically injury and illness can change people’s lives. My father is a pastor and I witnessed this far too many times through the lives of church members. I resolved myself to be a part of the opposite force – the healing and alleviation of suffering.
I have practiced medicine for 20 years, fulfilling my intention to be involved in healing through the relief of suffering and pain both as an anesthesiologist and an interventional pain management physician.
My mission at Spine Diagnostics is to provide the following for every patient with utmost compassion: a thorough evaluation of their pain, an explanation for the possible causes of their suffering, and a plan for treating their pain that will allow them to return to a life that is fulfilling.
Pain affects us in so many ways: chronic suffering, withdrawing from society, and even withdrawing from family. Patients can feel very isolated. It is my desire to help them reach a point where being around others is a joy and not something to avoid. There is no other place I would rather be doing this than South Louisiana. I sincerely love the culture and people of this area.
I completed my interventional pain fellowship at Texas Tech University under Dr. Miles Day, an international lecturer and instructor, and Dr. Gabor Racz, a world-renowned pioneer in the field of interventional pain and charter member of both the World Institute of Pain and the National Pain Foundation.
Pain can occur in any part of the body. My training allows me to offer my patients numerous nonsurgical options that are focused on treating the cause of the pain, not just aimed at relieving the symptoms of pain.
