We offer medication therapy, nonsurgical treatment, and minimally invasive spine procedures to treat all types of pain.

The Spine Diagnostic & Pain Treatment Center, with six locations in and around Baton Rouge, is the largest medical practice in Louisiana to specialize in the relief of pain. Our fellowship-trained, double board-certified pain management specialists are innovators in the interventional pain management community. Our physicians were the first in the area to perform advanced pain relief procedures like percutaneous discectomies and radiofrequency facet neurotomies.
We begin with a comprehensive exam and high-tech electrodiagnostic testing to discover exactly why you have pain. Then, we will create a customized treatment plan that deals directly with the source of your pain. We use specific treatments for specific problems, including chronic pain, musculoskeletal pain, spinal pain, nerve pain, and cancer-related pain.

Combating Musculoskeletal Pain
Chronic musculoskeletal pain is the primary cause of chronic disability in North America and can be brought about by any number of issues, including back pain or injury, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and inflamed spinal nerves.
Regardless of the cause, the goals of interventional pain medicine are to reduce discomfort and improve and restore function to the affected area of the body. Here at The Spine Diagnostic & Pain Treatment Center, we offer a variety of nonsurgical treatments that can relieve musculoskeletal pain, including the use of medications.
Depending on the type of musculoskeletal pain, there are also other treatment options. The use of therapeutic injections is helpful in the facet joints and other major joints to reduce inflammation of tissue in the joint space, which in turn reduces pain and other symptoms caused by irritation of the joint and surrounding structures.
A facet joint injection can help break the pain cycle and may help facilitate a rehabilitative exercise program. Injecting anesthetic around the sympathetic or peripheral nerves is also effective at blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain. The injections are done in a series to help break the pain cycle, which includes reducing inflammation to improve symptoms of pain, numbness, and weakness.
Finally, the implantation of a spinal cord stimulator may be a viable option when medication and/or injection therapy do not provide adequate pain relief. These devices send electrical impulses through a lead to electrodes implanted near the spinal cord or an affected peripheral nerve and block the transmission of pain messages to the brain.
